The BBC is broadcasting Choral Evensong today from St. John’s College, Cambridge.  Some of you might recall that Dr. George Guest made the college legendary during his tenure as choir master from 1951-1991.  Choral Evensong has been broadcast annually from St. John’s for more than forty years.  I hope you especially enjoy Allegri’s setting of Psalm 51(50).

I love listening to the Westminster Cathedral Choir, especially when they sing Vespers.  The flow between the chanting, faux bourdon psalm singing and polyphony is stunning and the texts of the Psalm are beyond compare.  The Psalter was Christ’s prayer book and ours and it speaks to every heart on the Christian life.  Below is a BBC recording of Choral Vespers.  Enjoy!
